In her role as Associate Director, Jen Alexander-Smith oversees the day-to-day case management operations of the department. Jen manages many of the student organization-related cases and programs. Prior to joining the SRR team, Jen was an Area Coordinator in residence life on both the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, advised student organizations, and served as a two-time Learning Partner for GW's Alternative Spring Break program. Jen earned her Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration from GW in 2013.

Before embarking on her career in higher education, Jen managed nonprofit programs for teens and young adults in eastern Tennessee and the DMV area. Ultimately, this work led Jen to transition to the college campus setting. Jen graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007 with her Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in French. While in undergrad, Jen joined Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity and studied abroad in Besancon, France.

Jen is celebrating her tenth anniversary as a Washingtonian this year and has lived in Foggy Bottom, the Palisades neighborhood, and on H Street. She now resides in the Navy Yard area with her wife. Jen loves rooting for all the DC sports teams, particularly the Nationals and the Mystics (as a season ticket holder). For the past few years, Jen has captained a team in a competitive darts league and recently led her team to the top spot during the regular season.
